The label on a peptide vial tells you the peptide name, how many milligrams (mg) are inside, and whether it is in powder or liquid form. Those three pieces of information are what you need to calculate every dose correctly.

What Does the Peptide Name Tell You?

The peptide name is the most important thing on the label. Make sure it matches exactly what you ordered.

Some peptides have similar names. For example, CJC-1295 and CJC-1295 without DAC are different compounds with different half-lives. One letter or word can change what you are working with entirely.

What Does the Milligram (mg) Number Mean?

The mg number is the total amount of peptide in the whole vial. This is not a per-dose number.

For example, a label that says 5 mg means the vial contains 5,000 micrograms (mcg) total. Most peptide doses are measured in micrograms, so you need to do the math after you add water.

Here is a simple example. If you add 1 ml of water to a 5 mg vial, each ml of liquid contains 5 mg, or 5,000 mcg. If you add 2 ml of water, each ml contains 2.5 mg, or 2,500 mcg.

What Does "Lyophilized" Mean?

Lyophilized means the peptide was freeze-dried into a powder for stability. You will see it on most research peptide vials.

Before you can use a lyophilized peptide, you must add bacteriostatic water (sterile water with a small amount of benzyl alcohol) to dissolve the powder. The result is a liquid you can draw into a syringe.

If a label says "solution" instead, the peptide is already dissolved in liquid and ready to draw without reconstitution.

What Is the Purity Percentage?

Purity tells you how much of the vial's contents is the actual target peptide.

A purity of 99% means 99 out of every 100 parts is the named peptide. The remaining 1% is other material, usually harmless byproducts from the manufacturing process.

A purity below 95% from a research supplier should raise questions about quality .

What Is a Lot Number and Why Does It Matter?

A lot number (also called a batch number) identifies exactly which production run made this vial.

If there is ever a quality issue or a recall, the lot number tells you whether your vial is affected. Reputable suppliers provide a certificate of analysis (COA) for each lot, showing third-party testing results for purity and identity.

Always match the lot number on your vial to the COA on file with the supplier.
